A UMass Amherst student was arrested after allegedly punching a Jewish student who was holding an Israeli flag and then spitting on the flag, the “latest proof that Jewish students are under attack” on campus, according to the Anti-Defamation League.The alleged assault happened after UMass Hillel held a walk and gathering on campus Friday, as the Jewish students called for the return of the Israeli hostages being held by Hamas terrorists in Gaza. The event included symbolic Shabbat tables with a seat for each of the 240 hostages.At the end of the gathering, a student not involved in the event walked through the crowd and allegedly gave people the middle finger, UMass Hillel reported.Then after the event, the same student returned and allegedly punched a Jewish student holding an Israeli flag, according to UMass Hillel. Toronto police have been notified of Halloween candy tampering where a nail was reportedly found in a chocolate bar.Police were called to the McRoberts Avenue and St. Clair Avenue West area, near Lansdowne Avenue, for a suspicious incident.A nail was reportedly found in a pre-wrapped Halloween candy while being eaten by an adult.The adult sustained minor injuries but did not ingest the nail. TORONTO — Dozens of workers at Ontario’s public broadcaster will return to work Monday after voting this weekend to accept a new collective agreement and end a strike that’s stretched on for nearly three months.TVO says the accepted offer includes a wage increase of 7.7 per cent over three years — three per cent retroactive to 2022, 2.75 per cent in 2023 and 1.75 per cent in 2024.The employer says it also withdrew various proposals that would have extended employment contracts beyond two years. CHICAGO — Police are offering a warning to residents on the city's Far North Side after two people were carjacked by a group of men early Sunday morning.According to Chicago Police, the people responsible for the carjackings used two vehicles to force the victims to stop and exit their cars before fleeing the scene in all three vehicles. CHICAGO -- Three men were found shot dead in the Brighton Park neighborhood overnight. Police responded to fired shots near the 3100 block of West 39th Place where they found a red dodge SUV occupied by two men who were unresponsive. One victim who seemed to be between the ages of 20 to 30 was found with a gunshot wound to the head and pronounced dead on the scene. Another victim was found with multiple gunshot wound to the body and was pronounced dead on the scene. 10-year-old hospitalized after South Side shooting A third victim, a 19-year-old, was found near the vehicle with a gunshot wound to the back of his head. He was also pronounced dead on the scene. SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- A California homeowner woke up and found a wild coyote sleeping on an outdoor patio couch this past week.The San Francisco resident called animal control officers out of concern that the animal was injured or unwell, according to officials. One group of volunteers is using stained-glass windows to inspire a new generation of students.Led by the City School District of Albany Board of Education, a group of about 20 volunteers bring their own expertise and knowledge to the table. After the research is completed, the committee will select three of the windows to be installed at Albany High School during its final stage of renovation.
