Israeli-born chef Aliza Grayevsky Somekh is known for her seders. Ever since moving from Jerusalem to the Bay Area in 2012, the Oakland-based chef has been organizing and cooking the Passover meal for the greater community through her food and catering business, Bishulim SF.She’d often welcome up to 85 friends and strangers — Jews and non-Jews alike — with matzo ball soup and lead them in a retelling of the Exodus story that was inclusive and relevant. During the pandemic, those Passover meals were stuffed into boxes and delivered to guests who met on Zoom. Needless to say, Somekh has been eager to return to in-person seders.“Last year wasn’t the right time, because people weren’t excited to sit together yet,” says Somekh, who is teaming up with Oakland’s Mica Talmor for a first-time community seder at Talmor’s restaurant, Pomella, on April 6. “Now, they are ready. And working with Mica is a no-brainer. (Pomella) is the rig...Another storm poised to hit the Bay Area Tuesday

(KRON) -- The Oakland Police Officers Association said the city is "stonewalling" it regarding information on the cyber security breach Oakland experienced in February, which led to city employees' personal data being compromised, according to a news released from OPOA. The association said it has tried to contact city officials about the matter several times but has not received a response.“Oakland city leaders talk about accountability, yet there has been zero accountability and a deafening silence for the safety and financial security of the city’s valued employees.” OPOA president Barry Donelan said. “This city is truly broken when city employees learn more about the release of their confidential information from the media than their employer, whose incompetence and sloppy security allows these data breaches to occur.” 3 children killed in ‘active shooter’ incident at Nashville school; shooter dead OPOA said it first wrote a letter to the city administration dated March 6 see...EEUU y México sopesan acuerdo contra el fentanilo y las armas de fuego, según NBC News

Lamar Jackson said Monday he has requested a trade from the Baltimore Ravens, saying the team “has not been interested in meeting my value.”In a series of tweets, the star quarterback said he requested a trade as of March 2. On March 7, the Ravens put the nonexclusive franchise tag on Jackson and said they were still hopeful they could reach a long-term deal with him.“As of March 2nd I requested a trade from the Ravens organization for which the Ravens has not been interested in meeting my value,” Jackson said on Twitter. “Any and everyone that’s has met me or been around me know I love the game of football and my dream is to help a team win the super bowl.”Jackson may not need a trade to join a new team. The nonexclusive franchise tag allows him to negotiate with other clubs. However, it also gives Baltimore a chance to match any agreement he makes. The decision to make the trade request public may be an attempt to deter the Ravens from matching another team’s offer — o...Rebels kill at least 17 people in troubled eastern Congo

The chief of the (the district) confirmed that they executed 17 people, including the drivers of the three vehicles,” he said.Since the area is controlled by rebel militias it’s hard to investigate what happened, said Mviniama. At least 32 civilians were killed by CODECO last month, say local officials. In December, the United Nations said the insurgent group was ex...Latest news
