CLEARWATER, Fla. (AP) — A storm system that moved across parts of Florida early Thursday left a path of damage to cars, houses and businesses, authorities said. Police in Clearwater, which is on Florida’s Gulf Coast near Tampa, said in a social media post that no injuries were reported when two possible tornadoes touched down around 2 a.m. Thursday. Photos shared by the agency showed gutters from a home that pierced the windshield of a car. The storms moved north into Citrus County, where officials canceled public school classes for the day.“The west side of Citrus County has experienced significant damage from an unconfirmed tornado(s) which hit the area overnight,” school officials said in a Facebook post shortly after 6 a.m. Thursday. Deputies were directing traffic Thursday morning due to multiple road closures caused by the storm, the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office said on social media. Troye Sivan harnesses ‘levity and fun’ to fuel third full album, ‘Something to Give Each Other’

Published Thu, 20 Feb 2025 15:53:49 GMT

NEW YORK (AP) — Troye Sivan was initially going to begin his third full-length album with a ballad, a wistful song looking back at lost love. Then he thought better about it. Frisky was the way to go.“I want people to know I’m OK. Things are good. Life is fun. Sex is great,” he says in an interview. “From the second they click play on the album, I wanted to slap them across the face.”The first song — also the first single — is “Rush,” a blast of house and EDM beats topped by a male chanting chorus, combining to create the vibe of a crowded nightclub or strobe-lit rave.“It was a feeling that I knew that I was feeling in life that I hadn’t yet managed to distill,” Sivan says. “When we finally got ‘Rush,’ I was like, ‘OK, this feels exactly the way that I want it to feel and communicates exactly what I wanted to communicate.’” “Rush” — complete with a video in which the first image is of a man’s backside being slapped — was the last song added to “Something to Give Each Other,” S...

(The Hill) -- Sen. John Fetterman says that America “is not sending their best and brightest” to represent them in Congress.“Sometimes you literally just can't believe like these people are making the decisions that are determining the government here. It's actually scary,” the Pennsylvania Democrat said during a Wednesday appearance on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.”“Before the government almost shut down, I mean, it came down to a couple hours,” Fetterman said of the House and Senate last month passing a continuing resolution to fund the government into mid-November, narrowly avoiding a shutdown.“I was in my office, and they finally came over from the House. And they're like, ‘OK, well, this has to be unanimous in the Senate.’ And out of 99 of us, if one single one of us would have said no, the whole government would have shut down,” he told Colbert.“That's how dangerous that is to put that kind of power in one's hands, because you have some very less gifted kinds ...
