Burn it all down? As tempting as an angry response might be to a football team going nowhere, a fire sale is no way to rebuild the Broncos. So don’t bring me some hair-brained idea about trading cornerback Pat Surtain II for a bounty of future draft picks. I will gladly tell you, however, that it’s time for receiver Jerry Jeudy and the Broncos to go their separate ways.Lose at home on Sunday to the New York Jets, the only NFL team with a longer playoff drought than the Broncos, and the fingerprints of our old friend Nathaniel Hackett could be on more pink slips handed out in Denver.Drop to rock-bottom of the AFC standings with a 1-4 record, and there would be no need for the Broncos to tank for a shot at the No. 1 pick in the next year’s draft, when they could sell off veteran talent at the Oct. 31 trade deadline and watch a diminished roster get bullied for the remainder of this lost season. There would be no shortage of potential trade targets in a frustrated and anxious Denver lock...Suspect identified in Kiowa County homicide investigation

SAN DIEGO — As if NBA Finals MVP wasn’t enough, Nikola Jokic followed his most accomplished NBA season with his most successful summer ever on the racetrack.Jokic estimated Friday that 2023 has been the best year for his horse stable, called Dream Catcher, but purely because of quantity; he bought more horses and therefore won more races.“We grew. We grew,” Jokic said at Nuggets training camp. “My horses everywhere — I have them in France, Italy, Serbia. They’re all winning races, so I’m happy.”Then, catching himself, he added: “They don’t need to be winning races. That’s my hobby. I just wish that they are healthy and that they run good. They don’t need to win.”Jokic’s own star horses include Brenno Laumar and Amy Del Duomo, but his broad fandom of the sport was on display Friday. After leaving the basketball court for the final time this week, he pulled up a live race happening in Lexington, ...Olvera Street merchants concerned about homeless, rampant rats

Just when the temperatures started to cool down, the heat seeped back into Southern California. Residents in the Inland Empire are feeling the heat wave as temperatures in some areas reach triple digits. Many parks were empty as residents and community members remained inside to avoid the heat. Don Ramos, a Rancho Cucamonga resident who walks laps at Hermosa Park with his dog, cut his exercise short, as temperatures climbed to the 90s just before noon. “It’s bearable, but it’s getting a little warm for her so I'm ready to take her home.” Other residents who chose to have a picnic to soak up the sun say they are keeping cool by “wiping ourselves down” and “throwing cold water in our face.” The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory for several cities across SoCal, including some in the Inland Empire which could reach triple digits through Saturday. “Highs are generally expected to range 7-15 degrees above normal,” said Elizabeth Adams from the N...Juszczyk says team cohesion is playing into 49ers' success: 'Playing with my best friends'

(KRON) -- All it takes is one chant of "JUUUUUICE" to see how beloved fullback Kyle Juszczyk is by the 49er faithful. Juszczyk has proven himself to be an indispensable asset to the 49ers for his willingness and ability to both block and catch the football. Now in his seventh season with the 49ers, the Harvard product is the longest-tenured player on the offense and the second-most senior member of the team behind defensive lineman Arik Armstead. Juszczyk has seen it all in San Francisco. He came to the team for Kyle Shanahan's first season, becoming a part of the organization's shift from rebuilding team to bona fide contender.
