ANTIOCH — A woman has been arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence of alcohol in the death Saturday of an ATV rider who police say was hit by the woman’s vehicle as she was allegedly driving in the wrong direction on Deer Valley Road.The 19-year-old woman was arrested in the death of Jerry Hill, 51, police said. The woman posted bail a few hours after her arrest Saturday, according to jail records. (KRON) -- An arsonist who used flares to ignite a brush fire in Vallejo on Saturday was detained by a witness who was a "trained mixed martial artist" and later arrested, according to the Vallejo Fire Department. The three-alarm fire broke out shortly before 7 p.m. Saturday near the intersection of Admiral Callaghan Lane and Turner Parkway.Fire crews cleared the scene of an earlier structure fire in east Vallejo to respond to the incident. Vallejo FD described the blaze as a "fast moving fire" that was burning through a mowed field, driven by 15-20 mph winds. (KRON) -- Over $1 billion in funding assistance has been approved for pension plans based in the Bay Area, according to a press conference held by the White House on Tuesday. The additional funding will supplement retirement plans for thousands of workers. The Retail Clerks Specialty Stores Pension Plan, based in Concord, will also receive $60.4 million in financial assistance. The plan represents 1,279 service industry workers.
