All of Minnesota will be under an air quality alert beginning Friday morning due to smoke from Canadian wildfires.The smoke from wildfires in northern Alberta and British Columbia is expected to move into Minnesota behind a cold front Friday and linger for several hours into Saturday, according to the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency.The air quality alert, which is currently forecasting conditions in the “unhealthy for sensitive groups” category, is issued from 8 a.m. Friday to 3 p.m. Saturday.Friday is expected to see a high near 88, mostly sunny skies and chances for showers and thunderstorm during the day. Hazy skies and a slight chance of rain are expected at night, according to the National Weather Service.Saturday should see a high near 85, with sunny skies and a slight chance of a thunderstorm. WOODSTOCK, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A Woodstock man has been indicted on hate crime charges, according to the Ulster County District Attorney's Office. Shayne Wilbur, 31, was indicted on July 11 for criminal possession of a weapon, menacing, assault, and criminal mischief. The indictment alleges that Wilbur, while at an Ulster County bar, started shouting homophobic slurs at the victim upon learning they were gay. Wilbur then allegedly hit the victim with a thrown object, jumped over the bar area, and attacked them, pulling out a box cutter in the process. After leaving the bar area, Wilbur reportedly punched a hole through the door windows, causing over $500 in damages. He is currently in the Ulster County Jail serving a sentence for violating his probation. ST. LOUIS - Four people are under federal indictment for the May robbery and murder of a St. Louis restauranteur. Fa Ming Pan and a cook were leaving Pan's business, St. Louis Kitchen, just after 9:30 p.m. on May 30 when they were ambushed in the parking lot in an attempted robbery. Pan was shot in the stomach and killed. He was 38. The cook, 56, suffered a gunshot wound to the leg but survived. After the shooting, one of the assailants stole Pan’s backpack, which contained Pan’s handgun and several thousand dollars in earnings from the restaurant.Last week, two suspects in the robbery and shooting were arrested and appeared in federal court for a preliminary hearing. ST. LOUIS - TSA officials report an alarming trend at Missouri airport checkpoints. New data shows that St. Louis Lambert International Airport and other airports around the state are near a record pace in guns seized midway through this year. Over the first six months of 2023, TSA reports that officials confiscated 104 firearms from carry-on luggage at eight Missouri airports. Officials seized a state-record 215 guns from Missouri airport checkpoints last year, just seven above the pace for this year. St. Louis Airport had a record of 102 guns seized at checkpoints in 2021. Halfway through the year, around 51 guns have been taken at checkpoints, right on pace with the airport's record. KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The number of firearms found in carry-on luggage at Missouri Airports increased in the first half of 2023, according to the Transportation Security Administration.TSA said its agents found a total of 104 firearms during routine screening at all airport security checkpoints in Missouri over the past six months. Three teenagers were arrested in Rancho Cucamonga after they allegedly broke into a house and were reported to police by the mother of a child who was still inside and hiding from the burglars.The break-in was reported just after 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, when a woman called police and told them her son was inside their home in the 6000 block of Klusman Avenue hiding from three burglars who had broken in through a window, the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department said in a news release.
